IAHF LIST:
Beth Clay, staffer for Burton, (Chair of the Govt.
Reform Committee) is scheduled to meet tomorrow June 17th, with Dr.Yetley
of the FDA (who is the American Codex Delegate to the Codex Committee on
Nutrition and Food for Special Dietary Use for a briefing- to get the
FDA's side of things and to discuss the fact that an oversight hearing is
necessary. Clay will make certain requests of the FDA at this time in
light of the concerns of we the people of these United States have been
making. We also are in solidarity with the vitamin
consumers world wide. As long as freedom reigns here, the rest of the
world has a chance... We MUST keep going, we
CAN'T stop now- this is for
ALL the marbles!
I learned of the meeting from someone on the IAHF email list who Clay
called back after he left two messages for her to query her re what was
happening re Codex. I will not quote her, but I want to tell you all
about this meeting so that you will be aware that something is
happening.
Congressman Burton appears to be heeding our
concern that something must be said to the FDA in advance of the fast
approaching Codex meeting in Rome which starts June 24th, (next Thursday)
in Rome, Italy, due to the fact that the skids have been illegally
greased by the FDA's action last September wherein FDA put made a
statement in the second paragraph of their comments on vitamins (agenda
item #5) that violated the will of Congress as well as current US law
which forbids harmonization to emerging Codex standards or to any lesser
standards abroad.
In the illegal second paragraph (which Congress must force FDA to
remove), FDA stated :
"The United States does, however, support
consideration of one element of the proposed guidelines, namely, the
consideration of developing recommended safe upper limits of vitamins or
minerals in supplements, provided that the recommendations are based on
scientifically sound risk assessment criteria. To this end, the United
States has submitted to the committee for consideration and discussion,
the document "A Risk Assessment Model for Establishing Safe Upper Intake
Levels for Nutrients"
Be aware of two things here:
1) In the first of the two paragraphs, the FDA claimed to TOTALLY OPPOSE
the draft proposal for vitamins and minerals, which was the only thing
they COULD legally do under current US law. They were correct in stating
that they felt the matter should best be left up to national authorities
to decide.
2) FDA contradicted this statement with the aforementioned second
paragraph, which Congress must force them to remove (!)
FDA is trying to wriggle off the hook on this one
via some fancy spin control in the form of a letter from FDA attorney
Melinda K. Plaisier, Deputy Associate Commissioner for Legislative
Affairs, who sent a letter to Congressmen Burton, Paul, Cook, Stump, and
De Fazio in response to the letter that they sent Yetley prior to the
Codex meeting in Berlin in September which told her to remove the 2nd
paragraph and the so called "Risk Assessment" paper. (A very biased,
unscientific paper generated by a pharmaceutically dominated National
Academy of Science) (See http://www.iahf.com Codex Oversight section for
complete details.)
What is going on here is that the FDA is attempting to hide behind the
NAS, given the fact that NAS is not part of the government so are not
subject to FOIA (the Freedom of Information Act).
(What this means is that because NAS isn't subject to FOIA, I can't get
their raw data or the CVs of the authors of the highly bogus Risk
Assessment paper.)
I was able to wrangle one CV of one of the many authors, and it clearly
shows a gross conflict of interest in the form of well over a million
dollars worth of pharmaceutical research grants from pharmaceutical
companies, and I'm sure the other CVs would reveal a definite trend in
this direction.
If the authors of the NAS paper had failed to do what was expected of
them by their drug cartel masters, they'd never receive another cent in
grant money.
So... its all about money...
If enough of you want me to go to the Codex meeting in
Rome,Italy I will go. It starts next Thursday. I have had some donations,
but not enough to get there yet, but that could change and I am keeping
my fingers crossed that enough of you come through. If I get there, I
could do the following things in your behalf:
1. I could link up with Dr.Matthias Rath and his demonstrators who plan
to demonstrate in front of the FAO building in Rome while the meeting is
going on. If you haven't yet been to Dr.Rath's website its
http://www.rath.nl and its a must visit if you want to understand the
Codex issue.
2. I could monitor what the US delegation and all the other delegations
do, and I could observe exactly what happens.... intelligence gathering
which I have experience in doing and which could be vital to our effort
to stop this crooked shell game.
3. I can let the FDA know they're being monitored, just as I did in
Berlin, and before that in Bonn in '96, and its good to make 'em sweat.
If for ANY REASON I were to NOT get enough
donations, the money would still be put to very good use in your behalf
because in early July I must attend the upcoming NNFA Vitamin Trade show
in Nevada in order to fully apprise the rank and file members of the
National Nutritional Foods Assn. that their organization is being
manipulated by pharmaceutical interests from the top down. In conjunction
with this I need to do a big mailing to NNFA members and that will be
expensive. (See the codex oversight section of
the IAHF website for more information on this. I have thoroughly
documented this to the point that when challenged to debate me on the
Gary Null show, NNFA Executive Director Michael Ford backed down, along
with NNFA International Committee Chairs Randy Dennin of Capsugel
(Division Warner Lambert) and Karl Reidel of Nature's Life.
Gary Null invited them all to debate me, and they all chickened out. Gary
Null has a Codex article scheduled to appear as the Cover story of the
September issue of Penthouse Magazine, and that will reach a LOT of
people! I hope to do some more radio shows with Gary about this whole
situation as he has an excellent grasp of whats going on.
So..... we need Beth Clay to tell Yetley to remove that 2nd Paragraph,
and to remove the NAS paper from the table at Codex, and we need for
Yetley to do so immediately, before the Codex meeting in Rome which
starts next Thursday. We need Yetley to fax or email a directive to both
Codex HQ in Rome, and also to the German hosts of the Codex Committee on
Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Use that FDA has withdrawn the
2nd paragraph of their comments on agenda item #5, Vitamins and Minerals,
along with the NAS paper. The reason? Both violate the will of Congress
and current US law. The Risk Assessment paper is biased and the FDA
appears to be conspiring with pharmaceutical interests in an effort to
make an end run around current US law via a slick sleight of hand
maneuver.
We need to see a summary of what transpires in this meeting
tomorrow. I have been told by the person on this list that it will be
posted in the website of the Government Reform
Committee.(http://www.house.gov/reform) We need to monitor this to see
what happened.
Please... send any amount you can afford to help me get over to Rome
Italy by next Thursday. A couple Grand should be enough. I have about
$300. in donations so far. Need about a dozen of you or so to come
through here if you possibly can- much is at stake. If I have enough.
I'll go. If I don't, at the very least I should end up with at least
enough to get to the NNFA meeting in Nevada in early July, and do a
mailing to NNFA members re the corruption in their own trade association,
and it also couldn't hurt to have some money to stay in a DC motel for
when I make my lobbying trips there. (I live 6 hours SW of DC in the
Appalachian mountains an hour from Roanoke.)
Don't forget to pray. Its God who made the vitamins. We're doing God's
work here.
For Health Freedom,
John
