Hello Everyone!It is with great joy in my heart that I announce to you Ed McCabe's imminent release from prison!
Ed is set to be released on October 3rd, 1999, after just under two years time in several different facilities. He will temporarily be in a half-way house in Florida, where he will begin to be able to set his affairs in order.
As of this date, I do not have an address or contact number for Ed, however, I will keep you all posted.
I want to want to express my deep gratitude to each of you who have supported Ed, in any way shape or form during this long and scary ordeal. It is because of all of you that we were able to prevent foreclosure on Ed's property, and be able to keep his affairs in order during his imprisonment. It is also all of your letters of love and support that have helped keep Ed's spirits up in the moments when he could have succumbed to the awfulness of everything that has happened. It is all of you, faces we have never seen, not strangers, but friends and comrads in this fight to make things better on our lovely planet, that made this happen.
I would also like to thank Howard G., who has provided Ed with endless hours of legal support.
Finally, I would like to publicly thank Bill Galkowski, Ed's number one supporter during his entire time in prison. Bill has never personally met Ed, yet, like so many of us, has been helped by the information Ed has provided to the complementary health community regarding oxygen therapies. Bill, who struggles with his own health problems, decided to take on Ed's case in the beginning, and has worked endless hours, and spent countless dollars of his own money, providing Ed with anything and everything he could during this time. It is Bill that realized Ed's house was in foreclosure, and decided to try to do something about it. Each week, Bill has accepted collect calls from Ed, in order to provide him with both legal and emotional support. Bill took on this task, while working full time and dealing with his own health, because he felt called to do it from his heart. As I am amazed at what Ed has given to all of us, I am amazed too by Bill's tireless and selfless devotion to this cause. Bill has never expected anything in return, he has done all of this because of some Truth, inside. It is people like Bill that make my faith in humanity move up a few notches, and remind me that grace and beauty DO abound here. THANK YOU BILL!!
I also would like to mention Ed's fiance, Leeda, who has been in the position of having to deal with this, on her own, far away in England. I know that this has been extremely hard for Leeda to be so far away, from both her love, and the fight for him. She too has worked incredibly hard to help Ed while in prison, and to see to it that he has a good situation awaiting for him upon his release.
I think it is incredibly hard, if not impossible to understand the full implications of having to go to prison. Add to this the fact that Ed spent over a decade fighting very hard to change the health care system in this country, and provide us with more options, only to suffer for his work. This ordeal has hugely affected Ed, his family and friends, and his livlihood, and he will have to continue to work hard to pick up the pieces and move on in his life.
It is a grave situation that more and more of the people we know are facing similar ordeals to what Ed has just undergone. However, it is incredibly heartening to have been able to witness the responses we have received to our pleas for help and support. The time is ripe for change, the public at large is very disillusioned with the inequities in our health care system, and if we continue to work together as we have, we may be able to change the course of history.
