Experience

Dr. Tomaino founded Tomaino Orthopedic Care for Shoulder, Hand and Elbow LLC in Rochester, New York in 2008, a private practice dedicated to surgical and nonsurgical care of the Shoulder, Hand and Elbow. From 2002-2008, he was Professor of Orthopedics at the University of Rochester Medical Center and Chief of the Division of Hand, Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. From 1994 until 2002, he was a member of the faculty in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Chief of Microsurgery. Author of more than 150 scientific articles and book chapters related to Hand Shoulder and Elbow problems and their treatment, he has trained numerous residents and fellows and has delivered instructional lectures internationally and nationally. He is a former member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and the Journal of Hand Surgery. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Education

Dr. Tomaino graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in 1986 and received his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Business in 2002. He completed his Orthopedic training and Hand Fellowship at the University of Rochester, and a Fellowship in Reconstructive Microsurgery at the University of Toronto in 1993.
