X-ray FAQs

Preparation is simple. To ensure clear images, you may be asked to remove jewelry, thick clothing, or anything that could interfere with the area being examined. Your care team will guide you through any specific instructions based on the type of X-ray ordered.

Most children don’t need special preparation for an X-ray. You can help by explaining in simple terms that the test is quick and painless, like taking a picture of the inside of their body. Depending on the exam, your child may need to remove jewelry, thick clothing, or anything that could block the image. Our care team will guide you and your child every step of the way to help them feel comfortable and safe.

If your provider determines and X-ray is needed to assist with your diagnosis, a certified Radiographer will perform the exam. The images are then reviewed by a board-certified Radiologist, who provides the final report to your provider—often with interpretation in under an hour. Most X-ray exams take only 5–15 minutes to complete, depending on the type of study.

Yes. All our clinics have in-house X-ray machines. If an X-ray is not available that day, we will provide alternative options to ensure you receive timely care.

No. WellNow does not accept outside X-ray orders. However, if you bring an order from another provider, our team can evaluate you. If our provider determines an X-ray is necessary, we can order and perform it during your visit.

You’ll receive same day results, usually within an hour of your exam from a board-certified Radiologist licensed in the state of which you are seen in. Some specialized occupational medicine exams may take 48-72 hours for the reports to become available for you and your employer.

X-rays may be covered in full depending on your insurance plan. To confirm your coverage, we recommend contacting your insurance company directly.

All our locations provide X-ray services. If advanced imaging is needed, our providers can refer you to a specialist, which could include Ultrasound, MRI, CT, etc.

To ensure timely care, if a Radiographer is unavailable or equipment is temporarily out of service, WellNow offers same-day or next-day options, so your diagnosis is not delayed.

If a child needs to be held during an X-ray exam, parents or guardians may be asked to assist, as WellNow staff cannot hold patients. Ideally, a parent, guardian or another family member who is not at risk of pregnancy will assist when a child must be held for the exam.
