Melissa Thomas, PA-C, serves as the Medical Director of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement at WellNow Urgent Care. She joined WellNow in 2014 and has played a key role in the organization’s clinical and operational growth through progressive leadership roles, including Core Provider, Lead Provider, and Regional Lead Provider.

Prior to joining WellNow, Melissa spent more than 16 years practicing in high-acuity emergency department settings at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Upstate University Hospital’s Community General Emergency Department. This extensive emergency medicine background informs her pragmatic, data-driven approach to quality oversight, peer review, and provider performance improvement.

In her current role, Melissa focuses on advancing clinical quality, reducing variation in care, strengthening risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with company protocols and state and federal regulatory requirements. She supports provider development through structured quality programs, education, and performance feedback, and is widely recognized for fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement across urgent care environments.
